We are seeking a hands-on Training & Development Manager for a growing organization in the restaurant industry! This is an opportunity for someone ready to build a training function from the ground up and grow into broader leadership responsibilities.
Initially operating as a team of one, you’ll develop the department’s foundation, create practical training programs, and support execution in the field. As the organization grows, the role offers the potential to build and lead a team of training managers and eventually advance into a director-level position.
What You Will Do as a Restaurant Training Manager:
- Build and implement training programs, processes, and resources that support consistent operations across locations.
- Create clear, practical standard operating procedures (SOPs), training guides, and job aids covering everything from handwashing procedures to new store openings.
- Develop onboarding programs for hourly team members and managers.
- Deliver hands-on training in partnership with operations leaders and store teams.
- Lead training preparation and execution for new store openings.
- Identify skill gaps and develop programs that strengthen manager capabilities and team performance.
- Establish ways to measure training effectiveness and improve programs based on feedback and operational results.
- Keep training materials current as operating procedures and business needs evolve.
- Help define the department’s future structure and, over time, recruit, develop, and lead training managers.
What You Bring as a Restaurant Training Manager:
- Experience in training, learning and development, or operations with significant responsibility for developing people.
- Food and beverage or restaurant experience strongly preferred, with an understanding of daily store operations and food safety practices.
- The ability to turn operational knowledge into clear, engaging training materials.
- Confidence facilitating training and coaching employees and managers with varying experience levels.
- Strong writing, organizational, communication, and project management skills.
- Comfort working independently, setting priorities, and balancing program development with hands-on execution.
- An adaptable, resourceful approach and the initiative to build processes where they don’t yet exist.
- New store opening and multi-location training experience are a plus.
